Emotional Freedom Technique, is also known as Energy Psychology or Emotional Acupuncture (i.e. Acupuncture without the needles), and is a wonderfully simple and fast acting technique to help you to gently remove the negative emotional charge attached to physical and emotional past and present issues. It helps to process emotions more quickly. It has been adopted by the US military for the treatment of PTSD and is used by the NHS in the UK.

First of all, I want you to know that I have completed my Practitioner Level in Emotional Freedom but I have not yet received my qualification until I sit an exam, complete 4 case studies and complete 50 hours of treatments. So, when you work with me right now, all our sessions are confidential between myself, yourself and my Mentor Grainne O’Neill who will guide me to ensure you get the best treatment. Once these sessions are complete and I have my qualification, all interactions between myself and my clients will be completely confidential.
So, what happens during a treatment session ?
When someone comes for EFT, they are looking to reduce stress, anxiety, an addiction, limiting beliefs, a trauma or anything that may be causing someone to feel distressed. It may also help with physical symptoms such as pain.
There are a number of techniques which an EFT Practitioner will use to help you in your treatment and the session is tailored to each client. For instance, if you would prefer not to discuss a situation which is causing you distress but you would still like help, we have very effective techniques for this.
We start the session with a chat to see what is going on with you and we determine the intensity of the emotion which needs to be discharged. From there, I devise a Set Up Statement based on our chat, which we use and repeat whilst tapping on acupressure points around the body, mainly around the head, face, chest area, under the arms and in very traumatic situation we will also tap on the fingers.
The areas where we tap are acupuncture meridian points, which have been used in Traditional Chinese Medicine for thousands of years and will have the effect of deactivating the amygdala and inducing calm.
